Russia strengthens its military presence in the Arctic

American media broadcast satellite images, tracking Russia’s movement in the Arctic.
The images included additional watchtowers and air defense systems deployed in the region, where Russia’s runways of military facilities in the Arctic were renewed.
American media suggested that Russia is building new facilities on the Kola Peninsula, near the city of Murmansk, as well as developing old Cold War bases.
Earlier, Danish intelligence suggested that Russia was preparing to establish a fighter jet base at the northernmost border guard station of Frans Joseph, about a thousand kilometers from the North Pole.
