In Portugal, 303 people died in the last 24 hours from COVID-19, the highest number of daily deaths ever detected.
In the country where the loss of life from COVID-19 increased to 11 thousand 608, the total number of cases reached 685 thousand 383, with an increase of 16 thousand 432 from yesterday to today.
15 days borders were closed
The government announced that due to the increasing number of cases and deaths, it will close its borders as of January 29 and a 15-day travel restriction will be imposed on the Portuguese.
Interior Minister Eduardo Cabrita said, “Within the framework of a national strategy, the government will restrict all citizens’ departure by land, air and sea for the next 15 days, except in exceptional circumstances. We already have limited flights to the UK and all our flights with Brazil have been suspended. “We will contribute to decisions that limit flights between risk zones in the area.”
In the country where all schools except primary schools are closed, the public is asked not to go out on the streets unless it is compulsory.
